Now…Updated
I updated what I’m reading, listening, and playing sidebar. Since I’ve last updated it I read 7 Years in Tibet, Into the Wild, now to start Rewired. For what I am listening too I added Games for Windows Live which I find to be a great podcast that is supposed to deal with games, but is more just funny stories about playing them. Also I discovered CBC Radio 3 after listening to CBC One and Two for too long. For what I’ve been playing I played through Call of Duty 4, Crysis, and have UT3 but only play it to check out the mod features.
Call of Duty 4 was a great game, fast past action that left you excited after every mission. The mission with the Spooky gunship is one of my favorite gaming moments in recent history. Crysis was good, but not great like all the reviews lead you to believe. The graphics are certainly amazing but the story line is pretty lacking and I thought the level design was too. I like having some variety in the level design not tropical forest after another tropical forest. They changed it up towards the end but it still wasn’t enough. I wonder if the lack of sales of the game were from the high system requirements or people just didn’t think it was as great as a game as it was hyped up to be. UT3 graphically is a very nice game with lots of mod options but the game play is the same old UT with nothing added to make it as fun and exciting as it used to be. After playing a game like TF2 and Bioshock it’s going to be hard for a FPS to match that.
Now I’ve started playing The Witcher which is the best RPG I’ve played in a long time. The storyline is very engaging and with the 1.2 patch it plays very well. Load times have been cut down, and bugs fixed so the game is playable. Hopefully the rest of the game is as well done as the beginning.
